The Effect Of The Xcel Study Program On Student Success
The Effect of the XCEL Study Program on Student Success Ashley Merrill, Nicole Grady, Carl Lewis, Cara Ramm, and Kateisha Young PS300: Research Methods I 6-28-2016 The Effect of the XCEL Study Program on Student Success Does the XCEL study program improve student success? Team D presumes academic achievement to be the representation of student success. Studentââ¬â¢s grade point average, or GPA, represents their academic achievement. A pretest-posttest design will measure students success by their GPA. A significant difference between the students GPA at the start and their GPA at the end of the program will determine the correctness of our team s hypothesis. The program will last the length of 10 weeks, or one academic quarter.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Researchers will, then, reach out to the students by email. After receiving the consent from 25 females and 25 males from each of the schools, participants will begin the program. It is possible but not likely that students who meet the qualifications for this study will drop out. Missing data should not interfere with this study, and the chance of dishonesty will be removed by requiring transcripts as proof of GPA and the internal recording process of the XCEL program (discussed in more detail in ââ¬Å"Procedureâ⬠portion). Materials: This study will be monitored by e-mail correspondence and the XCEL program will collect data daily about how the students are managing their time and their diets for the length of 10 weeks. The participants must have access to a computer and the Internet. At the start and the end of the program, the students will be required to send their unofficial transcripts via email, fax, or mail. Microsoft Excel will be used to input data and create charts and graphs to analyze that data. Our XCEL study program begins with a morale building conference, during which researchers will explain the program to the experimental group. According to George et al. (2008), studentsââ¬â¢ GPAs typically correspond with their time management skills and diet. The XCEL study program utilizes a standard diet that is rich in raw fruits and vegetables and a time management plan template that the participant customizes and agrees to follow religiously for
